So, you’ve been adding more photos to your facebook account and the one thing that really caught your attention wasn’t your friends, the view, the art work or whatever else was supposed to be the main focus. In fact, your double chin stole the show!

b)      Facial muscles – with age muscle naturally tends to loosen and lose that elasticity that helps it maintain the form of the chin and the jaw line. This is natural and can be reversed or prevented to some extent.

c)      Calorie balance – Are you taking in more calories than you are using up daily. If you are then excess calories will undoubtedly be stored as fat with the chin a prime area for storage.

Repeat this double chin exercise for getting rid of double chin daily, but be careful not to strain your muscles.

  1. Open your mouth as wide as you can and pull your lower lip over your front teeth as far as possible. Lean your head back and then make a scooping circular motion with your lower jaw. Do 15-20 repetitions of this have a minute long break then repeat this three times. This will hit all the main muscles you need to firm up to ensure getting rid of a double chin.
  2. Pointing your chin up and then puckering your lips is also going to have the same effect and can be highly effective at getting rid of double chin. Again repeat as above.
  3. Thirdly, in a normal upright position place the palm of one of your hands across your forehead. Now push against this with your neck muscles providing resistance with your hand. Your head should not move but you will feel tension all around your neck.

Ok, so done regularly those exercises will help regain some of that youthful vigor and draw in the fat from around your chin. However what you really need to consider is whether or not you are a little overweight all over your body. If you are, then the real main reason for your double chin is your calorie balance.

Basically you are gaining a double chin because you are consuming more calories than you need to. Maybe you are not exercising either and over indulging on occasion. All of this does catch up with you. What happens is that the excess calories that you consume and do not use up through exercise or other general daily activity have to go somewhere. And you got it, that somewhere can be your double chin, your thighs, your, your waist line or basically anywhere else around your body.

The order in which you put weight on around the body is genetically predetermined. So, some people will get a double chin before they get a pot belly or thunder thighs. Whilst for others a double chin will be the last place they put weight on. The key to remember though is that weight loss will take place in the exact reverse order to where you put it on. So if a double chin was the first place you started to store excess fat before you gained a gut and thunder thighs then that is all going to have to come off before getting rid of double chin.
