Do Not:

Try to focus solely on exercising the thigh area in order to try and lose fat from your thighs. Unfortunately it does not work like that. In the same way that doing thousands of sit-ups won’t reduce your belly fat, doing thousands of odd looking exercises straight from the pages of a magazine will not cause your thighs to become slender and model like.

Starve yourself and go on low calorie diets.  When your body does not get a regular and plentiful supply of food it assumes that food is in short supply. This threatens the bodies survival and in order to protect itself from starving to death it tries to hold onto all of the energy that it does have, and that includes all of the energy stored away as fat!

The way it does this is by slowing down the metabolic rate of the body so that the body burns off less energy, this is disastrous if you want to lose fat from thighs or from anywhere else for that matter. In fact it makes it virtually impossible to lose weight when you are starving yourself on low calorie diets, skipping meals or not eating often. The majority of people fall for this mistake, you might have been one of them – know you now, don’t do it again! It is one of the key answers to how to lose fat from thighs.

Do not expect to lose lots of weight in a week or two. Long term permanent fat loss takes time and effort. There is no magic pill. However you can make dramatic changes in your body in a sensible period of time, 2-3 months of following a proper plan could definetly allow this to happen! Now for the do’s…

Do:

Do perform cardio-vascular activity as often as possible. This need not be all about going to the gym (although would help) but brisk walks around the park, to work and back or with the dog all count as cardio-vascular activity and are great for burning calories.

Ideally though 30 plus minutes doing some form of continuous activity such as running, swimming, stepping, aerobics classes and so on are all excellent and should be done at least three times a week! Push yourself gradually harder and harder each week for improved fitness and increased calorie burning.

Do train with weights. This may sound odd but adding a bit of muscle to your body will greatly increase the amount of calories you can burn each day because the extra muscle tissue will actually need to be maintained by being supplied with calories which otherwise might not have been used up.

Do, do the classic weight training exercises for the legs and bum area, namely the squat, leg press and lunge. Whilst this won’t necessarily cause you to lose fat from thighs, it will allow you to strengthen those muscles and add a little muscle there, this may well tighten up the excess fat there whilst of course burning through lots of calories! (Don’t worry you won’t suddenly get a bodybuilders physique!).

And finally, do eat regularly every two to three hours, small meals which are well balanced including fruits and vegetables and lean meats. This will have the opposite effect to the starvation response mentioned above. This time your body will think there is a plentiful supply of food and so it’s survival is not in danger. This in turn will make it more than happy to let go of it’s fat reserves as it won’t think it needs to hold on to them for survival. Strange but true!
